Complete guide to using the Grade Book for managing student grades, assignments, and report cards.
Accessing the Grade Book
- Go to School Dashboard > Grade Book
- Select your classroom from the dropdown
- The Grade Book opens with four main tabs: Grades, Assignments, Categories, and Reports
Setting Up Grade Categories
Before adding assignments, set up weighted grade categories:- Go to the Categories tab
- Click "Add Category"
- Enter category name (e.g., Tests, Homework, Projects)
- Set the weight percentage
- Choose a color for visual organization
- Click Save
Example Categories:
- Tests: 40%
- Quizzes: 20%
- Homework: 20%
- Projects: 15%
- Participation: 5%
Creating Assignments
- Go to the Assignments tab
- Click "Add Assignment"
- Fill in the details:
- Description: Instructions or details
- Category: Select from your categories
- Type: Assignment, Quiz, Test, Project, Homework, Participation
- Max Points: Total points possible
- Due Date: When the assignment is due
- Click Save Assignment
Entering Grades
- Go to the Grades tab
- Find the student and assignment intersection
- Click on the cell to enter the grade
- Enter the points earned
- Click the save icon to save
- Green: 90%+ (A)
- Blue: 80-89% (B)
- Yellow: 70-79% (C)
- Orange: 60-69% (D)
- Red: Below 60% (F)
Grade Calculation
Grades are calculated using weighted categories:- Each category calculates: (points earned / total points) × 100
- Category percentages are multiplied by their weights
- Weighted scores are summed for the final grade
- Tests (40%): 85% × 0.40 = 34
- Homework (30%): 90% × 0.30 = 27
- Projects (30%): 80% × 0.30 = 24
- Final Grade: 85% (B)
Report Cards
Generate official report cards from the Reports tab:- Select the term (Quarter 1-4, Semester 1-2, or Final)
- Enter the school year
- Click "Generate Report Cards"
- Report cards include:
- GPA calculation
- Teacher comments
